Marinel Shares How One Needs to Face Ones Truths to Find Clarity to Live a Fulfilled Life

In today’s LEGEND LIFE STORY interview I will be sharing my interview with Marinel M de Jesus which originally aired at the end of 2020 when Marinel found herself in lockdown in Mongolia due to Covid.

Marinel originally from the Philippines is a Lawyer, entrepreneur, writer, mountain nomad, trekker and human rights advocate. Marinel practiced as a civil rights attorney for 15 years and discovered during that time her passion for mountain trekking. In 2017 she left her career to pursue life as a mountain nomad and turned her passion for trekking into a business by founding Peak Explorations with a dual purpose. One to inspire others to trek mountain trails globally and secondly to create workforce equity and inclusion of women and indigenous communities in the trekking tourism industry worldwide.

In 2021, Peak Explorations has become “Equity Global Treks” to become more mission-based. Offering transformational and uniquely designed trekking tours whilst continuing the original mission to create Workforce Equity within the trekking tourism industry by designing tours that are driven by the input, desires and needs of the local communities.

In 2019, Marinel also founded the non-profit, The Porter Voice Collective, which is a human rights focused media entity that utilizes all forms of media to amplify the voices of porters in the mountains of Peru, Nepal and Tanzania.

Marinel also filmed a documentary whilst in Mongolia on the Kazakh women nomads, “We Are Nomads, A True Story of an all Women Migration in Altai”, which was shown at the Lulea Film Festival in Sweden.

Marinel has travelled to over 60 countries, completed the John Muir Trail northbound as a solo trekker and internationally trekked in Mongolia’s Altai Mountains, Nepal’s Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes, Kilimanjaro, Albania’s Prokletije Mountains, on various trails in Sichuan and Yunnan Provinces of China, the Caucasus Mountains of Georgia, Indian Himalayas in Sikkim and Ladakh, Bhutan’s Jomolhari trail, and South Africa’s Drakensberg mountains.

In our interview today she will share how she came to develop her passion for trekking and set up her first trekking company Peak Explorations, the countries she has travelled and trekked in. Her recommendations as to best places to go trekking and what is on her future trekking list. She also shares what living a legendary life, her best life means to her and three life lessons she has learned in life.

I hope you are as inspired by Marinel’s story as I was. If you would like to learn more about Marinel you can visit her website and Instagram.
