Bringing People Together With Running and Social Good and Having Them Leave With a Community

With our Legend Stories Project we look to share with you the inspiring stories of people who have found and are living their purpose. People who are making a difference and looking to positively impact and change the world.

Today I have the pleasure of speaking to Danny Bent who is an your . Danny was voted one of the 100 happiest people in the UK and one of the 50 most inspirational people in London.

Danny has represented Great Britain at Triathlon and cycled from London to India raised money for charity along the way. He was the organizer of One Run for Boston, a coast to coast 3,328-mile continuous running relay spanning the United States to show support for and raise funds for those affected by the Boston Marathon bombings. This run created an incredibly supportive community and raised almost $600,000.

He was also the organizer of the longest, continuous running relay ever, the I Move London Relay, where 2000 participants ran a total of 4,000 miles in London in 2018 to help break down gang culture whilst raising over 50,000 pounds for charity. This secured for him his second Guinness World Record.

Danny tells us how his father’s advice at seven “don’t worry about what anyone else is doing just worry about being the best version of yourself” set the foundation for everything he has accomplished in his life. It freeing him to focus on just being himself and not being constrained by worrying about what others were doing, thinking or what he should be doing.

Danny says his purpose is to try to leave the world a better place than he found it and running is the vehicle he uses as part of the events he organizes. The idea being that people come because of the running but leave with the community that is the center of all of his events.

He says his passion is ‘motivating people to be the best version of themselves’ and that his mission in life is to ‘inspire people to do more, to give more, and to live more’. He also likes to speak on how to bring positivity and happiness to your life.

Danny also discusses his passion for running and desire to give back to the sport which has provided him with the community and support he has always need and it is this which has inspired the many running driven events he has organized. We talk about how setting goals and remaining motivated in challenging times. Danny also shares his definition of a legendary life, why we all should add more adventure to our lives and his top three life lessons.

Our talk will have you inspired to discover your own purpose and realize that you have all the resources right now to live this purpose and make a difference in the world.
