Adventures in the Dolomite Mountains

Ready to be Inspired to Make the Dolomite Mountains Your Next Travel Destination?

Today I have the pleasure of speaking to Agustina Lagos Marmol who is the founder of Dolomite Mountains a company that creates unique, custom active outdoor experiences and adventures in Northern Italy’s Dolomites. Agustina will give us the low down on the Dolomites and why you need to travel here and all you need to know to consider travelling here.

The Dolomites, are two hours by train from Venice and are a UNESCO World Heritage Site where Italian and Austrian culture blend. They offer one of the most beautiful and unique mountain landscapes on Earth. The Dolomites’ stretch across three Italian regions (Veneto, Trentino-Alto Adige / Südtirol (South Tyrol), and Friuli Venezia Giulia) and encompass 18 peaks that rise above 3000m.

The Dolomites’ distinctive sharp peaks, vertical walls and long, narrow valleys provide the ultimate location for all your adventure passions, including hiking, mountain and road biking, climbing, and skiing. In addition to the vast panoramas and trails, it offers plenty of high-quality hotels, B&Bs and mountain inns to help you take in the local culture and distinct regional and gourmet cuisine which is a fusion of Italian and Austrian cuisine as well as Italian wine.

For hikers and those who love to be in the outdoors the Dolomites are a dream destination with thousands of kilometers of trails good for day hikes or multi-day excursions via the Dolomite High Routes (Alta Via). There is also an extensive network of rifugios (mountain huts) for you to stay in. Some of the more popular hikes include the Tre Cime Hike, the Lago di Sorapsis hike, the Alpe di Suisi hike, and the Seceda hike but there are plenty of more on offer.

There are also the Via Ferrata which are hiking routes equipped with steel cables, steps, ladders and fixed anchors to help you explore the steeper and more difficult sections of the Dolomites. There are over 700 routes of varying levels of difficulty.

Whether it’s experiencing aquamarine glacier lakes, hiking to impossibly remote destinations, watching sunsets over mountain peaks or endless adventure opportunities the Dolomites are a must visit location for all outdoor and adventure lovers.

In our talk Agustina will share why she loves the Dolomite Mountains so much and talk about the diversity of adventure activities it has to offer travelers from hiking, skiing, cross country skiing, mountain biking or road biking. She shares her favorite places to take clients, what a typical day would look like as well as a typical itinerary and the activities that are available, best time of year to travel and how to get to the Dolomites.
